Kenny's past part 2

To find more humans to try to communicate with Kenny moved further into town, succeeding only into turning the streets into a battlefield, accidentally causing traffic accidents and scaring everyone.

As the major of the city heard of it an emergency meeting was called, and some scared citizens took part to it too.

The entire city hall was filled with panicked people, bleeding hearts and wackos.

“the terror of the sea is now on land! We are doomed!” a guy was yelling in fear.

“it caused my car to crash into a tree then it chased me making a jibberish verse! it was trying to eat me!” a woman said

“Major! you told us the shark nets would have kept us safe! how do you explain this?” a reporter from Tiburon times asked

“Everyone please calm down! We can't handle this properly if we don't have our wits” the major pleaded

In that moment however a guy broke inside the place, wearing weird clothes and talking in a strange accent

“citizens! if a shark is walking and breathing on land! it must be the first sign of the apocalypse” he yelled

“he is right! EVERYONE TO THE BUNKER!!!!” another citizen said in agreement, pointing at the entrance of the emergency anti-nuclear bunker.

“As voters naturally I'm worried about your safety, but we simply don't have the means to take down a shark that has learned to walk on land!” he said trying to ease the atmosphere

In that exact moment, Cruz the city's shark hunter stepped in, wearing his signature cowboy hat with shark teeth on it.

“look at all these poor lunatics...let's let them know i'm here” he said approaching to where the blackboard was supposed to be and scratching it, however...

“what!? what happened to the black board? ah forget it” he asked looking that it had been replaced by a white board and then walking towards the podium

“you don't have the means? i beg to defer” He said proudly

“Ok, how much do you want this time?” the major asked

“ah this time nothing, the head of the first and last land shark will be already rewarding enough, and i'll just let you pay me the double next time” Cruz answered

“Ugh, fine. Anything to get them calm again” The major said

“if they keep being chickens, tell them that i'm on it and that i'll bring you the tail the head and the whole damn thing by tomorrow as i always do” he said quoting his idol Quint from the movie Jaws.

“Well you haven't let me down before. You've got the job” the Major finished

The shark hunter left with an ominous smile on his face, thinking about what he'd have done to Kenny once he got him, and most of the ideas had soup in them...

“Thank Goodness it won't cost any tax money” The major said relived only of that fact.

As the Cassidy family arrived home, Peter started immediately sealing the doors and the windows.

“That should keep the place secure, let's hope in addition to learning to walk on land that shark hasn't also learned how to open locked doors” He announced placing the lock on the last door

“that's highly unlikely, he'd bite trough them” Kat said

“Note to self, reinforce boards with iron tomorrow” Peter answered...

Meanwhile as the hours passed Kenny was still roaming the town's suburbs, and still he didn't manage to make contact with a calm human.

“LAND SHARK!!!” Everyone was screaming upon seeing Kenny, dropping their things and running off.

“people! hey wait! i just want to talk!” Kenny said to them starting to run after them

“MY LANDLORD SAID NOTHING ABOUT SHARKS IN THE CONTRACT!!!” a woman screamed in the crowd of yelling humans

“oh come on! i'm trying to be civilized and you act like a bunch of of...wild animals! what is wrong with you?” Kenny said with indignation

Then the sun started to set and the evening began.

The Cassidy were having dinner as the TV was showing a news report.

“And today the rampage of the recently identified land shark continues as it destroys our transportation and brings terror to our streets” The announcer said, while displaying footages of Kenny biting cars and just wandering around the place.

“Aren't they exaggerating a little?” Kat asked

“however we were just informed that the citizen council, hired the local shark hunter, Cruz to capture the landshark and return tranquillity to our town” The announcer explained showing another footage of Cruz standing over one of his catches.

“Oh no! What if he hurts him?” Kat exclaimed terrified by the thought

“That's the point bean sprout, and besides it'll be safer out there without the monstrosity roaming around” Her dad answered

“i'm sorry but i have to agree with dad, you know how sharks can be dangerous if provoked, and now we could have one roaming in the backyard as we speak” Grace said instead

“But no one provoked him, he was just wandering around. Maybe he's curious about how we live.” Kat replied

“I can see that Kat but as every wild creature it's unpredictable, i can agree that maybe hurting it isn't the best way, but it has to go somehow” Grace tried to make her reason

“Has anybody tried talking to it? I mean, if it managed to learn how to walk and breathe air, odds are it knows how to talk too” she asked shocking a little her parents

“a talking shark? yeah right, like if that was possible” Peter joked

“Well nobody thought a shark walking on land was possible, but there it is!” Kat said pointing at the tv screen

“Well we all saw, however Kat, to talk in an articulated language its needed a voluminous brain, with variegated connections and a good memory, do sharks have them?” Grace asked

“Well...” Kat began to say feeling a little defeated

“that's what i thought, Kat listen to me, maybe you should lay down and rest some time, it will help you clear your mind, and besides that shark might even go back to the sea before the shark hunters catch him.” Grace continued

“I hope so...” Kat answered

She then leaved the dinner table and walked in her bedroom.

Then she crawled in the bed and tried to sleep, but there was too much on her mind...

“That shark, he figured out how to walk on land. If only I could get closer to him, get to know him. Think of what could be learned from that kind of creature!” she was thinking

“I could find out about sharks' true nature, maybe even dispel the myth of evil that seems to surround sharks!” she said in the end, secretly hoping to have a chance to meet that shark.
